Come join us for a great night of dancing, partying out the old year, and celebrating the next. We are providing FOUR hours of swing dance, Latin dance, ballads, waltzes, fox trots and even polkas at the American Legion Boat and Canoe Club

Located on the shore of the Grand River by Veteran’s Memorial Bridge (401 N. Park St. NE Grand Rapids, 49525 – map), The Boat and Canoe Club is the premier dance club with one of the area’s largest dance floors in Grand Rapids. An American Legion Post, it hosts great events all year long for its members.

Their New Year’s Eve Party (Sunday, December 31, 2017) is open to the general public, so make your plans now so you won’t be left out in the cold!

For tickets, contact the American Legion Boat and Canoe Club at (616) 361-7685 or purchase at the door. Tickets are $45 a couple / $25 a single which includes soda pop and hors d’oeuvres.

The Band is proud to be partnering with the Club and would love to see as many of our friends of the Band attend!

A tradition for over 25 years! River City Jazz Ensemble will present a benefit concert at 2nd Congregational Church on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 7:30pm.

The FREE concert will feature guest vocalist, Tammy Hjelm, who has been singing professionally in Grand Rapids for more than 30 years. Mid-way through the benefit concert, there will be an opportunity for the audience to help support the church music program with a donation.

Following the evening’s music, a reception will bring the audience and the band together for refreshments in the church community room. We are looking forward to seeing you and playing all of your favorite big band swing tunes for you once again.

JF-2016-PostRiver City Jazz wants you to know we have been honored to be the featured jazz group for the final performance at the 2016 Thornapple Arts Council Jazz Festival.

This year’s festival runs from Thursday, April 28, through Saturday, April 30, 2016. You can hear the River City Jazz Ensemble perform on that Saturday, at 7:30 pm in Hastings’ Central School Auditorium located at 509 S. Broadway, Hastings, MI 49058. VIEW MAP

From the Thornapple Council’s website:

Started in 2003, the Thornapple Arts Council Jazz Festival has grown to be the largest jazz festival of its kind matching more student groups and performers to professional jazz musicians through its clinician program than any other festival in the United States. This non-competitive festival puts education and jazz promotion and appreciation at its core. The festival draws over 10,000 people and provides a weekend of free jazz performance to the public and the chance for student groups to come in from around the state to work with professional musicians.

The 13th Annual Jazz Festival will have just under 150 performances happening over the course of three days. Only two of those performances have ticketed admission. Our Friday and Saturday headliners at Central Auditorium will be ticketed.

Saturday, April 30 – 7:30 – Central Auditorium
River City Jazz Ensemble (Middle and High School All Star Bands will open)
This is a ticketed concert. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.

River City Jazz Ensemble also appeared on EightWest on Monday – you can enjoy the performance below:
